Born in a lush and fertile region of Portugal, my connection with music began early in life. From childhood, I was drawn to sound and rhythm, exploring instruments such as the piano, organ, and marimba, guided by a deep curiosity for the mystery of music and its emotional power.
At the age of 14, I began my formal training as a percussionist at the Professional School of Music of Espinho in Portugal. Classical music played a key role in shaping my musical sensitivity, refining my ear, my sense of nuance, and my expressiveness.
Later, I moved to Switzerland, where I studied piano and drums at the Montreux Conservatory and later at EJMA in Lausanne. It was there that I discovered jazz — a turning point in my musical journey. Its complex grooves, freedom of expression, and endless possibilities deeply resonated with me and opened new creative horizons.
I later completed a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Drumming at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne (HEMU), and went on to earn a Master’s degree in Music Performance and Composition, as well as a Master’s degree in Music Pedagogy. Throughout my studies, I explored a wide range of musical styles and techniques, developing a versatile approach to performance and composition, while rhythms and harmonies from world music remain a constant source of inspiration.
Over the years, I have taken part in numerous cultural and artistic projects, performing in Switzerland and abroad and sharing my music with diverse audiences. Alongside performing, teaching has always been a central part of my journey. Since 2012, I have been teaching percussion and drums in various music schools, as well as leading workshops and masterclasses.
Today, I work as an independent artist and teacher, giving concerts, workshops, and masterclasses in Switzerland and internationally. My current artistic focus centers on the handpan, composition, and the creation of immersive musical experiences.
In 2026, I will release my album Gnome’s Journey, a poetic and musical project that will be followed by a tour in unique and inspiring venues.
